Not only that but I thought that Dwight Yoakum and John Ritter did a heck of job as well. Hell all the performers were good. Yoakum played one of the best bastards I've seen in the movies.
In point of fact, Billy Bob did get an Oscars for it, for Best Screenplay. And he was nominated for Best Actor.
