I laugh every time I hear this one. It was in the Sunday reading a few weeks ago and the sermon had us laughing about it, too.

Act 2:15 These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning!

that's not too early for some drunks.

as one might assume, if it is allegedly God's Word, does It not call on you/us to be the judge?

My judgement is God's Word can't keep Its story straight.

Well I'll be damned.

In the beginning
Back in nineteen fifty five
Man didn't know 'bout a rock 'n' roll show
And all that jive
The white man had the schmaltz
The black man had the blues
No one knew what they was gonna do
But Tschaikovsky had the news
He said let there be sound
There was sound
Let there be light
There was light
Let there be drums
There was drums
Let there be guitar
There was guitar
Let there be rock

And it came to pass
That rock 'n' roll was born
All across the land every rockin' band
Was blowin' up a storm
And the guitar man got famous
The business man got rich
And in every bar there was a superstar
With a seven year itch
There was fifteen million fingers
Learnin' how to play
And you could hear the fingers pickin'
And this is what they had to say
Let there be light
Sound
Drums
Guitar
Let there be rock

One night in the club called the shakin' hand
There was a 42 decibel rockin' band
And the music was good and the music was loud
And the singer turned and he said to the crowd
Let there be rock

1 John 3

16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

James 5:1-6

1 Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. 2 Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. 3 Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. 4 Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. 5 You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you.

Proverbs 25:21-22
If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat;
And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;
For you will heap burning coals on his head,
And the LORD will reward you.
(Libs hate this one.)

This week it's been a whole chapter that has kept me going; Lamentations 3.
You have an off-beat choice of riides considering what else goes along with some of those references.

La:3:12:
He hath bent his bow,
and set me as a mark for the arrow.
La:3:13:
He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.

Re:6:1:
And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals,
and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder,
one of the four beasts saying,
Come and see.
Re:6:2:
And I saw, and behold a white horse:
and he that sat on him had a bow;
and a crown was given unto him:
and he went forth conquering,
and to conquer.

Isa:49:2:
And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword;
in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft;
in his quiver hath he hid me;

Re:19:15:
And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword,
that with it he should smite the nations:
and he shall rule them with a rod of iron:
and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

Jer:25:31-31:
A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth;
for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations,
he will plead with all flesh;
he will give them that are wicked to the sword,
saith the LORD.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts,
Behold,
evil shall go forth from nation to nation,
and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.
And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth:
they shall not be lamented,
neither gathered,
nor buried;
they shall be dung upon the ground.

hahaha Try John 2:10 too, Wally. :D

I am not sure how it got to be 9 in the morning though. Older versions of the Bible say "the third hour of the day". Who says the beginning of a day starts at 6 AM?

I think there is only one that I regularly place much stock in: Luke 6:31 "Do to others as you would have them do to you" (the ethic of reciprocity).
Earlier versions started in ancient Egypt and ancient India.

lol Strychnine is cheap, arsenic even cheaper.

Confucius said it in about 500 BCE. Same for Lao Tzu. Ancient Egypt, sometime between 2000 and 1600 BCE.

Ezekiel 23:19-20

Yet she became more and more promiscuous as she recalled the days of her youth, when she was a prostitute in Egypt. 20 There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.

Night is from 6PM to 5:59AM

M't:12:40:
For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly;
so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Yeah, I heard people were generally smaller back in the old days.
