"These tableaus are made quite cheaply in China but are sold for much more than they are really worth to make that much more profit," said an official with the organization who monitors and evaluates Qurans available in Iran.

The official even urged importers to halt future Quran shipments from China, the Times reported.
If you're keeping score at home, China is accused of shipping out --, toys --, totally -- and, now, tainted Qurans.

I find it difficult to believe that a product from China would not be the highest possible quality. Who would have thought?

What did they expect to happen? If you outsource something to another country who's main language differs from yours, I would expect there to be typos.

I wonder how many bibles are printed in China that are full of errors that nobody has noticed? Might account for some of the misunderstandings that some come up with.

I heard a rumour during Desert Storm where the US outsourced a condom contract to Japan and got a few million condoms that were too small for the soldiers to wear so they were used to keep the desert sand out of their rifles instead. Can anybody verify that one?

My friend received a remote flash for his camera yesterday from Japan....he saved $50 by buying it directly from Japan instead of from a canadian import.
Shipping from Japan $ 4.75 ..no duty...maybe because of a red sticker that says "Birthay gift"????
all his purcases from that company have the same sticker.....
But the instructions that come with it look like a google translation of Japaneese

If things are labeled as a gift, they are duty free. Of course, if one is a business and charging for stuff, they are legally not supposed to be marking everything as a gift. In theory they could get in trouble but that would require somebody from Immigration/Customs to stop body cavity searching 90 year old grandmothers and do something.

People don't seem to complain about their iPods, though.

I got an Android tablet from HongKong for $76. So far, not bad.
