I activated pay-as-you-go with rogers.
Basically, how does this work?

card expires 30 days later, if all minutes are not used is it possible to extand it to next month?

does the internet work with pay-as-you-go? if yes what are the rates?

does it calculate minute, or seconds of talk? like if I talk 21 seconds, is it recorded as 1 minute or 21 seconds?

does the messaging cost me something?

I apreciate any answer
Thanks a lot.

Im not sure about rogers, but chances are its a lot like aliant (which I have)
btw, heres the rogers plan

pay as you go is usually pretty simple. I get free caller ID. 21 second phone call will cost you the same as 1 minute. Text messages for me are 10 cents each. The low end cards ($10-$15) expire in a month unless you add another card the following month, then they carry over. Larger dollar cards ($100-$150) expire after a year.

Chances are youll get ripped off with surfing on a pay as you go. Basically, if you plan on using the phone every day, pay as you go is not what you want. I use mine on local calls maybe 3 times a week at most and go through $10 a month. for my plan you can choose either 30cents anytime, or 35cent and 5cents after 8pm (I have the latter). Im not sure how long distance charges apply though.

I got 4 cell phones. Imagine how huge are my bills in total. That's why I decided to switch one of the to Pay-As-You-Go.

Unfortunatly, they don't have cards for 5 bucks.

You are telling that there are cards with 100, 150 $ for year. That's pretty good.

What if Idon't use my all available minutes (dollars) at the end of month and purchase new card and add it. Will the remaining minutes (dollars) from previous month carry over to the new one?

Thats how it works on mine. Usually I have 2 or 3 dollars at the end of the month so when I add another 10 dollar card Ill have 12-13 dollars.

When I was phone shopping with my gf I believe it was rogers that had the 100 dollar card, and aliant that had the 150 dollar card. They dont seem to include that in the advertisements, instead it was the sales rep that told me about it. Theres a few other levels of cards that last 2 months or 6 months I believe

Well if at the of month I have $3 left and I add new card, my balance would be $13. And again by the end of the next month I don't use all the available minutes (dollars), let's say I got $6 remaining. Will this be added to the new card again? I mean the new card that I add will the balance be $16 or $13 or $10?

Im not sure if minutes that are carried over still have an expiration date or not. Im inclined to think that youre new balance would be $16. Best would be to call Rogers (i just have to type #321 and it lets me choose between acount balance, add funds, customer service, etc...)

I refuse to do business with La Costra Nostra. "That Thing of Theirs" usually turns out to be robbery. :grrrrr:

Sure, I can answer all of your questions, I'm pretty sure, as I sell the stupid things :D

Cards do expire within 30 days, but like others said, if you carry over the minutes by buying more, you can carry over the original balance. Time is calculated to the minute.

Like others said, there are the $100 cards as well, which last the time or for one full year, whichever is used up first.

You can get Internet, and the costs are as follows:
Surfing on your mobile Internet browser: 2¢ per page
Downloadable Games: Starting at $3 plus 50¢ download fee
Downloadable Ring Tunes: Starting at $2.10 plus 50¢ download fee
Downloadable Graphics: Starting at $1.50 plus 50¢ download fee
Online Games: 2¢ per page viewed

Text messages are free to receive (up to 2,500) and are 15¢ each to send.

P.S. Luckily for you, the Rogers rates for pay-as-you-go just got a lot better. The old, default plan called the 'Anytime plan' still costs 33 cents/min, but the new 'All Day Plan' only costs 25/min for the first 5 mins, and 15 cents/min after that) and the evenings plan dropped too (39 cents/min before 9, 1 cent/min after and on weekends). It's free to change your plan if you call Rogers, or you can do it online.

Frankly though, even with the lower rates, they're still poop when compared with the Megatime plans you can get in Central Canada. Any reasons you went with the pay-go?

What if I don't use my full card this month. Let's say I use only 7 $ of 10$ card. I buy new card for 10$. My new balance is 13$ = 10$ + 3$, because the ramaining carried over. And out of this 13$ I use only 7$, I have 6$ left by the end of the period. When I buy new card for 10$, will my balance be 16$ or 13$?

It should be $16. The time is only supposed to run out if you go the 30 days without renewing any time on the phone. Since you're renewing by adding money, it should all carry over. This area, even to us retailers though, has always been kinda unclear.

I'm not giving any more money to Rogers after being subjected to those god-awful World Cup commercials. Advertisments are supposed to make me want to buy something, not physically repulse me.
