We must melt down all of our rifles and guns and shape them all into looking more like the hammer and sickle. At least that is what our dear comrade political leaders would like us all to do. These two RCMP officers opened fire on another RCMP officer!!!!! Thank God they combined their lack of common sense and self-control with extremely poor shooting skills.

And one of the rules those of us that own weapons is that we are to be 100% positive as to what we are shooting at and what is beyond what we are shooti ng g at. Are you suggesting that the rcmp do not have to follow said rules and can shoot at and through whatever they fu cking feel like?

A challenge is not mandatory before opening fire, but it is standard practise. And anyone with any sense would do so in this situation.
As a hunter, I count the spikes on the antlers, and I make sure they move when the animals head moves so that I'm sure that I haven't convinced myself that the surrounding brush is a set of antlers. This is what I do to form a solid foundation of due diligence.
With a police officer, if they are going to shoot with haste, I think they should be concerned about their own safety or someone else's safety, otherwise it would be pretty hard for them to claim due diligence.

Yes, because it's always better to shoot and kill your fellow officer just on the off chance he's not.
