The South pole is 9186 feet above sea level, and is surrounded by a thick sheet of ice on top of a continent. The North pole is by comparison pretty much at sea level, and is surrounded by a large resevoir of heat, the Arctic ocean. That is why the South pole is colder than the North pole.

The reason why our South Pole is super cold is because of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current, and its also the reason such a large ice sheet exists there.

The axial tilt means that for half of the year, the earth's Northern hemisphere receives more sun, and for the other half, the Southern hemisphere receives more sun. The main reason that we have seasons in a year.

I should get 2nd than if its a competition because the circumpolar current keeps warm water at bay and is the reason why there isnt a large resevoir of warm water around antartica.Which has allowedfor the development of the big glaciars
