B.C. bill creates 11 new parks, 70 conservancies

VANCOUVER — The Liberal government introduced legislation Tuesday to create 11 new parks and 70 new conservancies in a move provincial Environment Minister Barry Penner called the largest single creation of protected areas in B.C. history.

Mulroney honoured for environmental record

Brian Mulroney was honoured Thursday night as the greenest prime minister in Canadian history. The Canada-U.S. acid rain treaty is probably the best remembered element of Mulroney's environmental record. But he also introduced an ambitious environmental agenda, created eight new national parks and brought in the Environmental Protection Act.
