Some of the science forum regulars may remember I posted some info on the Triana-DSCOVR-GORESAT satellite that to this day remains packed in a box.

I stumbled across an article from ScienceDaily that seems very ironic given the weird circumstances surrounding DSCOVR. NASA will launch the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager satellite in one year. The HMI satellite will take high resolution images every two seconds, recording the magnetic fields as well as other surface information.

They should be launching the DSCOVR satellite, to give a good complimentary set of data to understand better the effects on our radiative balance.
