That must mean we have a lot more oil so the extra time doesn't affect the bottom line. (plus all that overtime really makes it more expensive than this other method)

You have no faith in the earth Cliffy. It's nice that you want to help her though. If the big mother wants to she can just roll over and crush the whole lot of us, and there's nothing at all we could do to stop her. You will have to accept the fact of extinction events and the fact that if and when she's had enough, bang we're outta here to be replaced by bugs.
Fish and oil have co-habited the earths oceans since long before we built our first offensive weapon. Are you suggesting that we interfere in the natural scheme of things?
Have you considered the ramifications of a perfectly oil free ocean? Heavy oil is one of the very first links in the food chain followed by heavy metals.

Someone has to speak up and defend natural oil spills before these eco-fanatics destroy the delicate balance with their clean ups, next they will want to eliminate diseases. Why the indescriminant butchering of helpless bacteria and virususes? Ask yourselves that what gives us the right to descriminate and pronounce death sentences on organisms just trying to make a living.
