Yesterday the temperature hit 36.7 degrees in Penticton, BC. The only place hotter in Canada was Ashcroft at 36.9C. Anyway, the 36.7C reading in Penticton beat the old record for June 8th, set back in the 1920s, by 4 degrees. In addition, this was the first that a temperature this hot has ever been recorded before the 18th of June in this south Okanagan city. This comes on the heels of one of the warmest springs on record.
Not all of Canada was that warm. In fact, the average temperature in Eureka, Nunavut, over this past Spring was -25.5C, which marks the coldest spring recorded in North America since 1992.
