Supermoon and meteor shower set to light up Sunday sky

Skywatchers in the northern hemisphere are awaiting the phenomenon known as the ‘’supermoon’’ and the Perseid meteor shower Sunday night, Reuters reports. Supermoon and meteor shower set to light up Sunday sky | World | News | Toronto
This classic shot of the supermoon was taken in Shawford near Winchester, Hampshire by Linda Enfield as she looked towards Twyford and the South Downs National Park.
Kim Sullivan showed off her picture taken in Tottenham, north London, on Twitter using the hashtag #marblemoon. She said: "I'm an amateur photographer and couldn't miss the perfect photo opportunity."
John O'Neill said that he went out with his iPhone to take his image in his garden in Purley, south London because the supermoon was a "unique event".
Mike Meynall was in Blackheath, south east London, when he took this image of the perigee moon rising over the city. The next supermoon is due to appear on 9 September.
