Joe Pleban is putting his best foot forward.
The 23-year-old Virginia man only has one left - the right one - after he decided to amputate the left one rather than continue suffering from the rare disease that filled his ankle with benign tumours, ABC News reported. Surgery and radiation had temporarily stopped the tumours but had given him arthritis, which made it difficult to walk without crutches or a cane.
Before it was removed on June 25, a Facebook page recounted the Last Adventures of Joe's Left Foot, including a skydive and a paintball outing.
He even got a tattoo that read "Please Cut Here" with a dotted line.
"There were a couple times where I was like 'Man, am I really doing this?'" Pleban said. "But then I'd try to walk a block or something, where I need a cane or walking boot...[I'd think], this is the right decision, I can't live like this anymore."

good for him, that took courage and conviction but will lead to a healthier less pain filled life...and with the prosthetics available today, no one will even be able to tell
