Canada ranked near last place on emissions

OTTAWA - A European report ranks Canada 55th of 58 countries in terms of tackling greenhouse gas emissions -- ahead of only Iran, Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia.

And the Washington-based Center for Global Development released a report yesterday ranking Canada 27th and last on the environment out of the world's wealthiest 27 countries.

Its report says Canada still shows no intention of moving forward with climate policy and therefore remains the worst performer of all industrialized countries.

OK, OK, I confess. As a vegan, I'm one of the flatulent culprits.

I wonder what the stats would look like if we measured ghgs based on emissions per square kilometer?

... That's right - the nations that are small countries with uber-high population densities would become the bad guys all of the sudden.. Can't have that now, can we?

TOP 10 COLDEST COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD:
Read more at http://americanlivewire.com/coldest-countries-in-the-world/Antarctica: It is without a doubt that Antarctica is by far the coldest place on Earth. Known as the snowy desert, this is where the most extreme condition of cold weather is found in the world. The coldest temperature every recorded in this country is -129 degrees Fahrenheit.
Russia: Russia is well-known to be one of the coldest countries in the world. Most areas in Russia only see sunlight for two months out of the year. With harsh winds and temperatures sinking to as low as -40 degrees, Russia is second on the top 10 coldest countries in the world list.
Canada: Our neighbors to the North get colder than we do in the United States. Canada, while having similar weather patterns to America, has a windy and dry climate, which makes it a much colder region than most areas in the world.
Kazakhstan: Kazakhstan is a neighbor of Russia, which also makes it one of the coldest countries in the world. While different from Russia as this country experiences very warm summers, the winters in this region are harsh and unwelcoming. Standing outside in the middle of winter for too long, and one could easily get frostbite.
United States: While America definitely has its warmer areas, the East Coast is considered to be one of the coldest areas on the planet. Moreover, Alaska, sometimes mistaken for its own country, is nothing but ice and snow in the winter.
Greenland: Don’t let the name of the country fool you, there is nothing warm or green in Greenland. This country is so cold that most of the time, the temperature remains below 0 degrees Celsius. Because it is covered with huge ice sheets, sunlight cannot enter the country as easily as it can in the U.S.
Iceland: The name of the country speaks for itself. Iceland is known to be one of the coldest countries in the world as the temperature hardly ever rises above 0 degrees Celsius. To say it’s cold in this country is an understatement.
Mongolia: Situated between Central and East Asia, the months of April to October are the only time the country sees temperatures rise above 0 degrees Celsius. The rest of the time, Mongolia is a very cold place as temps average below 0.
Finland: Finland, while not as cold as some of the countries higher up on the list, has one of the coldest winters on the planet. The winters in this country are packed with snow and temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius.
Estonia: Not many people have heard of this country, but those who know it know how cold it can get in this part of the world. Estonia is located across the Baltic Sea from Finland, and while it may not be as cold as other countries, the weather is still harsh enough that it is hard to live comfortably. With unpredictable weather patterns and chills in the air, Estonia makes it to the top 10 coldest countries in the world list.

The answer should be obvious to you. If you are a climate change denier then anytime spent calculalting CO2 is a waste of time. If you are a claimte change believer, then, since the the issue is anthropogenic emissions, you'd want a handle on the anthro- part of that.

Why would it look much different? The report is about emission reductions, and the land area of most nations has not changed significantly. For those that have, then the per unit area metric is even more worthless.

Density of population is huge factor in the overall emission scheme but this article is about 'tackling emissions".

Would it be easier to reduce emissions in Belgium than in Canada?
