Hunter killed in bear attack in N.W.T.

EDMONTON — A hunter has died following a bear attack in the Northwest Territories.
RCMP were called to the area southwest of Norman Wells, near the Yukon Border, just after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The victim's name has not been released.
Researchers say bear attacks are on the increase.
Lorna Weafer, 36, of Fort McMurray, Atla., was fatally attacked by a black bear May 7 on a busy Suncor oilsands work site.
A 60-year-old Edmonton man was hospitalized after a black bear attack in Smoky Lake County Aug. 3, after the bear he shot survived and turned on him.
Calgary hunter Rick Cross, 54, was killed Sept. 7 by a grizzly bear.
