A very warm welcome to the forum, katsdad! You're going to enjoy the forum, just wander around a bit then jump right in. Whatever advice you seek, you'll find the forum full of helpful people.

Being on the bottom run of a 100 run ladder is one of those places we've all been, but to hell with the ladder, just take the elevator.

Welcome to the forum katsdad. Oakville is a nice community... I live over on the other side of Toronto in Pickering. What made you decide to move to Canada?

hi mike and mr bagpipes  thanks for your greets. i think i'll find plenty of info for the journey ahead . in response to your question mike , my main reason is for my daughter , i am a believer that the great has gone out of "gb" so i think a change is indeed needed. i would love our little one to grow up in a real nice place and i hope oakville is that place. ps any info on oakville would be great.

check out the official site for Oakville: http://www.oakville.ca/. Also, if you are planning to buy a home: http://www.mls.ca/map.aspx?AreaID=1053 or rent an apartment: http://www.places4rent.com/finder.asp?LOCID=5150.

Oakville is really nice... on the expensive side for buying a home. Some areas are more reasonably priced. If you plan to work downtown Toronto think about getting a place near the Go Train (commuter train): http://gotransit.ca/publicroot/home.asp

Jobs? Check out a few general job boards: http://www.monster.ca/ or http://www.oakvillejobs.ca/. What sort of work do you do?

It depends on what your dreams are....real-estate has shot up drastically in the better part of Ontario, and 400K in the Toronto area doesn't buy much.

In London Ontario (where I live) 400K will get you a rather nice house for sure.

Here is a website for you to explore if you haven't found it already.

Hello, katsdad. Welcome to Canadian Content.

Jump right in — it's quite arguably the best way to do things. I hope to see you around the forum; note, if you are prone to the epileptic reception of flashy colours, you may want to skip over my posts in the future. :)

No one can skip over your posts, Five. They reach right up and grap ya with yellow, clear out of the air. Try running past, and they trip you in red. Try sneaking past in dark of night, and they come at you with neon green. Nope. Can't get past your posts that easily, Five.
