Domed Stadium or not in Regina

So it looks as if the City of Regina will eventually come to a consensus and likely build a Brand new Multi purpose facility.

10 times or more a year it would be used by their Roughriders and Jr. Rams , and then year round for such things are farmers trade shows, other shows.. events like concerts and whatever else that can be thought up.

In my opinion, the smartest thing that they can do for the long term benefit of this province is to build it as a Dome, a retractable dome that will allow them to use it all year and really get a benefit out of it.

It's the smartest idea and it has to be done right away.

I disagree. I know that it would be better for a domed stadium in the winter but I think that it would be far better for games and concerts to have an open stadium. I think it just adds so much more to the event if it can be outside.

No dome. Football should to be played and watched outdoors.

I agree Chiliagon... a retractable dome would be ideal. But what is it like costwise? How many people are CHOKED when their concert or sporting event gets rained out? It's nice to be outdoors, but, it's nice to have the option when possible.

Rained out....Snowed out....Froze out....and the cost would be about $450 Million at this point.
A Grey Cup Game at -30c and a Prairie wind? Not fun outdoors...

I'm torn on this one. The old stadium is decades past its "best-before" date, but $450 Million?
Damn!!! Currently, if you go to a Rider Game, & need to use the John...you'd better go before
1/2 time (or wear rubber boots), as after that point the washrooms flood. That's not fun either.

Craven is a mud pit again this year. Some of it underwater. If ever there were an event that was guaranteed rain it's theBig Valley Jamboree. I wonder if someone will drown this year? I guess we'll find out Monday.

No matter what goes in that spot I'm damn glad the rail line is going.

Yup both CN and CP will be diverted to the Pinkie inland port. You realize they'll tell us that a downtown stadium will be useless without an LRT and freeway where tracks were. $450M is is just the stadium costs and not all the ancillary infrastructure requird to get people to and from, parked, fed and accomodate those from out of town.
