More Rain....

Right now I'm listening to a Prairie Summer Storm, & wondering how long
it'll be until I loose power. TV (digital) is intermittent at best, but the Internet
access is holding up so far.

I like those. Better fireworks than anything humans can conjure up, IMO

I'm listening to "house rattling thunder" and "pounding hail" by Thor and the Rainmakers.

I heard this one yesterday to the tune of $17K.

Enough already.

Don't need that. I heard California always needs water, though.

My end of the block, the street is flooded up over the sidewalks &
onto the lawns. You sure about that?

There was no room for more water last fall. The well at the farm has never been this high. Normally it's 70ft before the bucket splashes down. Too bad it's all poisoned from fricken' fracking. Not even safe to use for irrigation. But if America really really needs it then I'll gladly let them have it.

Did you notice this rain smells like a lake? I'm going to pH it in a few minutes.

Prairie storms aren't like that though. Just like natures other beautiful things they'll kill ya in a heartbeat.

This is my street last Thursday:

Seems they don't have a symbol for waves of hail storms....

Here's the one that hit Hazmart in S'toon two days ago:

That's kind of sad. I saw some people lost homes and stuff. Okanagan had a pile of rain a while ago and it caused a mudslide. Wiped out a few farms and houses, too.

Shytie....my crop consisted of 14 strawberry plants. Most drowned, and
a few are hanging in there, & three of them are HUGE!! I think a couple
of those must be mutant aquatic strawberry plants....(see above pic)

Apparently strawberries do well in hydroponics. Maybe I should have planted rice? It will be tough to turn a nickel this season. Ah well, I'm glad I'm not a gopher.

Rhubarb seems to be liking this weather. I've no idea what large scale
production & harvest (and finding a market for it...) would entail though.

....& 7.7 means what? Is that normal-ish?

7.0 is neutral and means it's damn dusty way up there.

Rhubarb would have made great jam with those strawberries. Rhubarb crisp is really good and would sell well if you can find some old Ukrainian ladies to buy them.

Be glad it wasn't 6 and raining pee. Our weather was out of the US deserts which kick up quite a bit of limestone dust which added to neutral vapour and gave it a 7.7

Sometimes we get dust from Mongolia

We have three healthy plants left, & the birds usually beat us to the berries.
You might want to find a different strawberry supplier. I love Rhubarb Crisp!

My neighbour has really nice strawberries so I eat those before the crows do (the neighbour has yet to notice) but no rhubarb. Raspberries are looking great this year same goes for the wild cranberries up at the farm.

Hey maybe you can make rhubarb booze?

Rhubarb Wine? I'd try that.

Hey, look at this one closely, & you can see the curb:

I was reading in the Leader Post that the crops will be down something like 50% this year due to all the rain. Ginny, my sister in Regina, keeps telling me about all the 'lakes' forming on the fields and of course the national news has been covering the highway wash-outs. After all the years of drought, to have more rain then they would ever need is a crushing blow to farmers across the province.

Hope your power managed to stay on, Ron.

I'm sorry all of you have so much trouble from the rain. I guess we must be more prepared for it here because it rains often like Ron's pictures show but it doesn't flood here. The older parts of town have large drainage ditches. In the newer parts the drainage is buried but it's still there and works well. It's just a given here that most driveways and sundecks etc. are built with a little more degree of "drain" because we do get rain that looks like that quite often. It can and does rain so hard it's just bouncing off the road but it never builds up to flood levels. It has not rained hard here for about a week but it's been chilly. Temps are ranging from a high of 16 to lows of 4. Hubby worked graveyard shift and I woke up one night really cold. When he came home he said it dropped down to 4 in the night and he had to turn the heat on in the bldg. he was in. It's an office. But - unless they change it again - next week when we have made plans to go to a wonderful beach campsite, right on the ocean, temps are supposed to be at least 23 or better.
7 - 7.5 is perfect for a swimming pool or hot tub PH

49% Humidity? I seriously doubt that number....

Sound's like Saskatoon & Yorkton got it again hard last night.

It's 30 there, 20 here, dropping down to 16 for a high tomorrow but - and it's probably a big but, it's supposed to get to 28 by the end of next week when we go camping.
