Company has big plans for 88-year-old theatre
Quote:
THE Canad Inns corporation has purchased the Metropolitan Theatre and plans to restore the 88-year-old heritage building to a semblance of its neo-classical glory.
The Winnipeg hotel-and-entertainment chain plans to renovate the former movie theatre, build a new structure on the site of an adjacent building to the south and turn both downtown properties into a rock 'n' roll-themed "destination centre."
...

100 grand doesn't sound like much but with its historical status and the condition its in it'll cost a small fortune to fix up. Good on them.

That's a beautiful old building, nice to see it won't razed for a big box or condo.

Its AWESOME inside! It was built for the old days of vaudeville. That place is going to fricking rock. Hope they take it easy on the upscale but hey, its their call. Nothing a change in ownership can't clear up.
