It looks like Ontario is going to be buying power from Manitoba, after all. They swung a deal today for Manitoba to supply power to Thunder Bay, and are talking about Conawapa and other future deals again. This is at least the third time we've reached this kind of agreement. Let's see if Ontario backs down again.

The government changed, then the government changed again. Harris backed away from Rae's deal, then came up with one of his own several years later. McGuinty backed away from Harris' deal, then came up with this latest one. There might have been a deal before Rae was in office too.

The basic deal hasn't changed at all...Ontario pays for infrastructure in Ontario (power lines) and Manitoba pays for infrastructure in Manitoba (dams) and Ontario buys power from Manitoba.

Coal can then be taken off-line and less nuclear power is needed. Everybody wins.
