TORONTO - Canada Post is beaming Scotty onto a new stamp.
The Crown corporation announced Friday that Star Trek’s Montgomery Scott — known affectionately by his Enterprise crewmates and fans as ‘Scotty’ — will be featured on its fourth stamp in a series honouring the 50th anniversary of the sci-fi TV series.
James Doohan, the actor who played Scotty, was born in Vancouver. Trekkie fans might also recognize him as the man who came up with the first two lines of Klingon.
His son Chris Doohan was on hand in Toronto this week to unveil the stamp showing his father in character.
Stamps released so far include one showing Captain Kirk and the U.S.S. Enterprise and another displaying Mr. Spock.
