Toronto police have found several guns and a religious book in the trunk of a car that was abandoned after a crash.

The single-vehicle collision happened at Allen and Transit roads, north of Wilson Avenue, around 4:30 a.m. on Friday.

The routine investigation turned into something much more when police arrived to find no one in the car.

Police are now looking for the occupant or occupants of the car.

Terrorist obviously
Local guy probably as he crashed at the time of day that it is hardest to stay awake through.

Try "silly"......on second thought....that's overused too...;-)
Silly terrorist to fall asleep 'on the job' sounds about right to me. That would be the silver lining in a dark cloud so to speak.

Police confirmed to CBC News that three firearms, including two handguns and a machine-gun, were found inside the abandoned vehicle along with two silencers and ammunition.

Police said they don't have a suspect, but they do know the registered owner of the car. Authorities noted they do not know who was in the car or how many occupants were inside when the crash occurred.

The vehicle is now being examined and the investigation is ongoing.

Police said they do not believe there is any threat to public safety at this time.
