Man charged for pouring maple syrup on sidewalk

HAMILTON -- A Hamilton man had a bad day on Thursday.
First, police allege, he poured a sticky substance all over a downtown sidewalk.
A city spokeswoman says crews came in to clean up what they guessed was maple syrup.
Then, police say, they began an investigation, which led them to a witness who identified the man allegedly responsible for pouring the gooey liquid onto the sidewalk.
They charged the man with mischief, but that wasn't the end.
Police say their investigation also revealed the man had a small amount of marijuana, so they charged him with possession and also with breach of probation.
