The practice of starting Mississauga city council meetings with the Lord's Prayer will end on Wednesday.
Council recently passed a motion to stop opening meetings with the prayer and has decided to observe 30 seconds of silence instead.
The motion passed unanimously.
Mayor Bonnie Crombie says a silent reflection is inclusive for everyone.
She adds they can "acknowledge and recognize issues that are happening around the world."
Prayer could be replaced by national anthem or moment of silence
