ST. CATHARINES, Ont. -- A dozen dead kittens found on the side of the road in Beamsville, Ont., early April may have come from as many as four litters.
The Lincoln County Humane Society said a post-mortem examination was recently completed on the kittens, who were found on South Service Rd. near the Town of Lincoln offices on April 8.
Executive director Kevin Strooband said the cats ranged in age from six to eight weeks old and were from at least two litters and as many as four.
The humane society isn't saying how they died, but the case is being investigated as a possible act of cruelty to animals.
"It's part of the investigation," Strooband said.
Humane society officials are appealing to the public for information about anyone recently caring for at least two litters of kittens.
