BARRIE, Ont. — A mother is accused of setting her garage on fire Wednesday night after arguing with her adult children.
Police charged the 47-year-old woman with arson, endangering life, assault and mischief over $5,000 after an alleged family dispute escalated in a northwest neighbourhood shortly after 9:30 p.m.
Melted cars and extensive fire damage to the roof and attic of the bungalow could be seen in the burnt skeleton of the garage Thursday morning.
Fire department spokeswoman Samantha Hoffmann said the damage is estimated at $250,000.
“Four family members were home at the time, and they all got out safely,” Hoffmann said, noting fire alarms were working in the home.
