Very sad to see. If only he could have stayed out of trouble his life would have been so much better. To his credit, he did succeed in improving his game later in his career. But that high life has its consequences. Hopefully, others will learn from his sad example to clean up their act.

how sad, he was fishing with his father-in-law and others, had pain in his chest, collapsed and died
right there.

wonder if he had been ignoring 'signs', betcha he did.

yeah, he was a tough guy allright in hockey, most feared, but his kind has long dissapeared from
the game, but played their part when it was needed back then.

very sad for his family, he was only in his 40's, had a wife and kids, i'm sure they will miss him
dearly.

I always liked Probert: he could kick the butts of the toughest guys in the game but he also had skill enough to play as well. He ended his career with almost 400 pts, not record breaking but enough to show he contributed with more than his fists.

Unfortunately, he had issues. His busts for coke possession made the news and it was said that his substance abuse issues were why Detroit gave up on him and sent him to Chicago. That kind of behaviour exacts a heavy toll eventually. I just hope he was able to salvage enough of his playing salaries to look after his wife and kids.

Yes, a sad day for sure. Probert was an angry man on and off the ice. Perhaps it was the drugs and lifestyle that killed him but I think it was the pent up rage that affected his heart.

Here's a neat little article I just found about the link between anger and heart disease.

There could be a lesson in there for a lot of us on CC.
