Then Harold Ballard took the Maple Leafs and sold off their souls and he redefined them as a feedlot operation.
Got hockey players still wet behind the ears and paid them the bare minimums and let them play NHL hockey and when they got better then he would sell off for a profit because he knew one important fact about Toronto which is sold out games to watch their beloved bottom of the barrel hockey team.
Toronto wants a Stanley Cup and the new team will be consisting of good player and enforcers just like the team back in 1960s will go all the way
One can only hope.
Who cares? It's about money Jack! No money no Leafs.
Toronto could support 3 or 4 teams, but for the franchise rights. It's not about anything other than money. Besides, the corporate fans don't come to watch a game they come to do business. The actual fans of the sport, go watch the minors, international play and subscribe to cable to see the games they like to watch.
Don't ask if the Leafs are going to make the play offs. Instead consider the bottom line of the fanchise and there you will find not a cup but one of the wickedest bank accounts in the NHL. Now go wag your consumerist tail and buy the sports package available through either television provider. It's your choice mate.
