Sure glad the Canucks managed to pull that rabbit out of the hat. Big kudos to Bieksa for the sliding stop and the goal to take the game to OT.............and thank heavens for Raymond and Lu. Wasn't a stellar night for the team but they got the two points and that's all that counts ........for now.

no,can't take my hockey there, must give it a better name. Hockey is a love of mine,
has been since I was a child,(8 yrs old) approx., listening to danny gallavan calling a game on the radio, and I
began to listen, all by myself, and by the end of the game I had adopted the montreal canadiens
as my favourite team, and never looked back. That game was so exciting, and I wonder why I didn't pick
the toronto maple leafs, whom they were playing, just didn't seem right. I was very wise in those days,
at the age of 8, no one in my family ever mentioned the NHL, or listened to hockey.
No such thing as television, only 6 teams in the NHL, I was so lucky to have found them, they gave my
life some depth, something other than my little circle, and even then the few little friends of mine knew
nothing of my hockey team (s), and had no desire to, and most of my friends now still seem the same, (although I have made
a point of not having many), guess i'm not much different than when I was 8.

Well when it was 3 - 3 and the Predators kept on coming, I did have a moment of doubt, JLM.

Byron Bitz sure had a good night, didn't he - the smile on his face after his first goal could have lit up the rink.

Got a real kick out of the acrobatics that both Lu and Pekka exhibited in some of their stops last night - now that's entertainment.

I can see why there is so much talk about the Predators, JLM, they are really fun to watch............though maybe not if one is a die-hard Canuck fan. LOL!

Good game for the Canucks and now they are what - only one point behind Detroit? - looks real good on them. Nice to see Ryan Kesler getting back into his game.

Canucks
Wild
Roberto Luongo has shut out the Minnesota Wild three straight times, but his last three starts at Xcel Energy Center have been a stark contrast.

Vancouver Canucks coach Alain Vigneault has an interesting decision to make on who to start in goal Thursday night against the Wild.

Luongo's five regular-season shutouts of Minnesota (25-20- are his most against any opponent. He has stopped 90 shots in three straight shutouts against the Wild, but those outings have been at home.

It's been a different story in Minnesota, where Luongo has a 7.00 goals-against average in losing three straight starts while being pulled every time. Cory Schneider replaced Luongo in the third period of a 6-2 loss there Oct. 19, 2010, and has since started all three of the Canucks' visits to Xcel Energy Center.

Since Schneider started the teams' only matchup at Minnesota this season - a 5-1 loss Nov. 3 - Luongo has been in net for the past two meetings and posted his only shutouts of the season.

Luongo has started eight of the last nine games overall for Vancouver (33-15-5), and he's opened its four-game road trip by winning shootouts in Colorado and Nashville.

"We're going to be involved in a lot of tight games," Luongo said. "We gotta find out ways to win. The last couple have been a shootout, which are nice, but that's the kind of hockey we're going to be involved in especially coming down the stretch."

Vigneault split up the Western Conference's most prolific teammates by starting with Henrik and Daniel Sedin on different lines in Tuesday's 4-3 win over Nashville.

The twins, however, found themselves together on the ice for a key 23-second stretch in the first period in which Henrik assisted on goals by Byron Bitz and Daniel. Bitz, a new linemate for Henrik, also assisted on Daniel's goal.

"Obviously it was a matter of time before the twins got back together," Vigneault said. "I was able to at the end of one of those power plays put them back together because of the killers that we used and that's when Bitz got his back-to-back points."

The brothers have combined for 14 points in four 2011-12 meetings with Minnesota. Daniel Sedin has 11 points during a six-game run against the Wild.

Minnesota may not have a good option in goal. Niklas Backstrom is 0-4-1 with a 3.78 GAA in his last five starts against the Canucks while backup Josh Harding is 1-4-0 with a 3.38 GAA in five career starts against them.

Vancouver's last seven games have been decided by one goal - five in shootouts - while Minnesota had a run of four straight such games end with Tuesday's 3-1 loss at Columbus. The Wild were outshot 14-7 in the first period, and coach Mike Yeo was displeased with the effort throughout.

"The reality is that I don't think we deserved to win the game," Yeo said. "It's a game of one-on-one battles and they got the better of us - by a large margin - in that department tonight."

Minnesota has gone 3-4-1 since losing Mikko Koivu to a left shoulder injury, scoring exactly one goal five times in that span, but he's been cleared to return. Yeo said he expected to put Koivu, second on the team with 33 points, back on the top line with Dany Heatley and Devin Setoguchi.

Heatley, who leads the Wild with 17 goals and 38 points, has an assist for his only point against Vancouver this season.

Must say that when I heard Tuukka Rask was starting in goal, I had to wonder why considering Boston is having its troubles of late but was not surprised when he was pulled and Timmy went in - not that he did any better. Solid win by Buffalo.

the injury to hank's ankle by a shot in the last game doesn't have any bone breakage, so that is good

news, and apparantly he is going to play tonight, as the only thing he has to bear is 'pain', so as he

said earlier today, "I could take a couple of weeks off, and then still have just as much pain, might

as well play now".

Wies will not be playing tonight, he also took a shot to the leg area, but cannot play.

They have recalled duco from chicago.

Schneider will be in goal.

Good well played game by Cannucks. I like the looks of Maximum Lapierre. If I didn't know better I'd say Minnesota has a couple of A$$holes on the roster. The Svedes contributed well.

Well now wasn't that a nice game............Canucks almost could have done that in their sleep once they got past the initial Wild goal. Bitz made his presence felt again, nice little pass to Henrik! Max got a couple of whacks in on that hairy Wild fellow. Elder was robbed of an assist but still got one on the night. Manny got another one. And Max came back after the fisticuffs to get one of his own. All in all not a bad effort by the Canucks though I wasn't expecting such an easy win for them after listening to Vigneault on the Team today as he was commenting on the poor play of the team lately - funny that as they seem to winning quite a bit - must be the new way of downplaying the fact that the team is doing pretty darn good all things considered.

Way to go, 'nucks!

I don't know what they call those bony lumps on the inside and outside of our ankles but if someone rings
a hard shot off one of them there is not much that is more painful. The doctor is probably giving Henrich
a bit of novacaine so he can play

He certainly played a good game tonight........As did most of the team.

It seems the ref skated in on that frenzy after the minny guy did his nastiness, and I guess he thought
'he' was being ganged up on, they both should have gone to the box.

yes, I agree, and I wouldn't want to see that ankle right now.

he did play well, they all did, with the exception of that quick first goal, they weren't quite ready,
got fooled, but that didn't phaze them, they just did their thing and showed which team was the best
on the night.

Preview Canucks go for sweep of road trip against Flames Brian Hunter - NHL.com Staff Writer

game time - 7:00 p.m. saturday

LAST 10: Vancouver 7-1-2; Calgary 4-3-3

Season Series: Fourth of six meetings between these Northwest Division rivals. The Canucks claimed a pair of 5-1 wins before the Flames responded with a 3-1 victory in Vancouver the last time they matched up on Dec. 23. Roberto Luongo has posted a 1.34 goals-against average and .951 save percentage against Calgary this season.

Big Story: Coming down the stretch, both teams find themselves in similar positions to a season ago. The Canucks are first in the Northwest, battling to defend the Presidents' Trophy, while the Flames are on the playoff bubble in the Western Conference, two points out of eighth.

Team Scope:

Canucks: This is the finale of a four-game road trip for Vancouver, which is going for the sweep. Good fortune seems to be smiling on the Canucks of late, as the concern after Tuesday's shootout win over the Predators was that Henrik Sedin might be sidelined with a foot injury. He missed practice the following day and was seen in a walking boot. Not only did Sedin take the ice against the Wild on Thursday, his 553rd consecutive game, he scored a goal in the Canucks' 5-2 win. Daniel Sedin assisted on it after earlier scoring a power-play goal of his own.

"After warm-ups, I wasn't that good," Henrik said. "But once the game starts you get the adrenaline going a little bit. It was good."

Flames: Depending on whether you view the glass as half empty or half full, there are varying ways to look at Calgary's game in Phoenix on Thursday. The negative is that the Flames lost 2-1 in overtime, giving up a point to one of its chief competitors for the final West playoff spot. On the other hand, Olli Jokinen's goal 4:01 into the third period kept them from coming away totally empty and meant they secured at least a point (1-0-2) on all three games of their road trip. Six of the Flames' final eight games to close February will be at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

"We knew this game would be tough, and I'm proud the way the guys battled back to tie it," coach Brent Sutter said. "We just have to keep pushing. It's all right there for whoever wants it."

Who's Hot: Ryan Kesler extended his goal-scoring streak to five games in the Canucks' win over the Wild, while Henrik Sedin now has 1 goal and 5 assists during a five-game points streak. … Jokinen is on a tear for the Flames, recording 5 goals and 3 assists during a five-game points streak.

Injury Report: Vancouver forward Dale Weise (foot) is day-to-day. Forwards Andrew Ebbett (collarbone) and Chris Higgins (illness) are on injured reserve. … Calgary defenseman Derek Smith (ankle) and forwards David Moss (ankle), Curtis Glencross (MCL) and Lee Stempniak (ankle) are on injured reserve.

Stat Pack: While Daniel Sedin has double the goals of Henrik this season (24 to 12), he only leads his twin in power-play goals by two (7 to 5), while each has recorded 5 game-winning goals. … Jokinen has scored 13 of his 17 goals this season on the road.

Puck Drop: Recently recalled Vancouver forward Byron Bitz, who drew the primary assist on Henrik Sedin's goal against Minnesota, raved about his new linemate afterward.

"People talk about toughness, and toughness is a lot more than dropping the gloves," Bitz said. "Playing through injuries and things like that, that's toughness."

thats right. that penalty given to daniel sedin in the overtime was a phantom, tanguay drew that himself,
good strategy, and give him kudos for doing it, fooled the ref, cause daniel did nothing to him.

however thats the way it goes, they had their chances in OT, just didn't happen, so back home now,
and play phoenix I think.

I also think that both of the penalties given alberts for boarding were 'wrong calls', both of those players
were falling before he checked them, he almost missed the second completely, and there is absolutely no
time for him to cancel the hits that late.

i'm never one to whine about the officiating, but when it is obvious I will mention it,
and that applies to any game i'm watching.

the officiating is not very good at all, all over the NHL, for many games, and I see
many games all thru the week, and I see teams get bad calls all the time.

i'm a critic of any player on the canucks at any time, and I will complement the other team
for good plays as well during the game, I am a hockey person, not a homer.

And I will add that if the canucks had of played better thru the earlier part
of the game those calls wouldn't have affected the outcome.

The phantom call on daniel in overtime made sure that the sides were even, as
4 on 3 amounts to a goal much of the time, so I did give kudos to tanguay for
doing what he did, and it was good strategy, and it was a dive, he is a veteran
player, a smart player, and did what he needed to do.
