TORONTO - A new year, a new Leaf sweater.
If you’ve had trouble keeping up with the design changes the past couple of seasons, the hockey club has one more tweak, this for public sale for the Centennial Classic on Jan. 1 at BMO Field against the Detroit Red Wings.
Unveiled Monday, the sweater will have “a signature look for the occasion, combining important elements of our club’s past, but also our present and future,” said club president Brendan Shanahan in a release.
“This unique sweater will be an important part of those memories.”
Retaining the ‘Honour, Pride and Courage’ motto stitched into the back of the neck for sweaters in the 2016-17 season, the franchise’s 100th, the special edition model is marked by a horizontal singular band of white across the body linking it to the Toronto St. Patricks’ jersey worn from 1922-1925. The pants will have a white Toronto Arenas ‘T’, for the city’s first NHL franchise.
The sweaters are now available online now at Shop.NHL.com - Buy NHL Apparel & Gear at The Official Online Store of the NHL (external - login to view)
and at shop.realsports.ca (external - login to view)
and available for purchase in-store beginning Tuesday.
