Police in Pakistan have arrested two men for allegedly digging up a corpse and eating it in a curry.
Cops told the Guardian newspaper that two brothers allegedly unearthed the fresh corpse of a 24-year-old woman, cut off its legs, and cooked the meat in a steel pot.
Muhammad Arif, 40, and Farman Ali, 37, were arrested and charged with digging up and desecrating a grave, an offense that carries a maximum penalty of six months behind bars.
There are no specific laws against cannibalism in Pakistan, not because it's permitted, but because it's so unheard of.
The investigation was sparked when a family member of Saira Parveen, 24, who died of cancer, went to visit her grave and found it dug up and the body missing.
Police say officers raided a home in the Punjab province and found Parveen's remains -- some of which police say had already been eaten -- shovels, knives and the body of a four-year-old girl, also nabbed from a local graveyard.
Malik Abdul Rehman, a senior police officer, told the Guardian the men were trying to exact revenge after their wives left them.
