These dramatic pictures show the moment a brave have-a-go hero took on a gun-toting robber.

The man risked his life when two robbers fled from a raid on a jewellers in the centre of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire and he managed to grab one by the arm.

The robber aimed the gun at the man's head but the man knocked it out of his hand.

The robber then managed to free himself and escape and the identity of the have-a-go-hero remains a mystery. The robbers made off with a handful of gold chains.

Detective Inspector Karryann Beeby, who is leading the hunt for the robbers, appealed for the shy hero to come forward.

She said: ‘It was a very brave thing to do. He might hold a vital piece of information which is key to the inquiry.'

This incident comes a couple of weeks or so after a group of men attempting to rob a jewellers in Northampton were fought off by a handbag-wielding granny.

Where's Colpy when you need him? He'd have ensured that that good Samaritan be fined for not having had a fully-loaded firearm on him as any patriotic citizen should.

Now now Coply, just pulling your leg.

Not the brightest thieves I've ever seen. They weren't even wearing a disguise! I have a feeling they will be caught before too many days have gone by.
