A friendly little robin has charmed staff and customers at a furniture shop by visiting the premises to get food.

The staff of the Granary Pine furniture shop in Bradford Upon Avon in Wiltshire provide the little bird, which they've named Rory, with regular meals of bread, biscuits and his favourite treat - meal worms.

Shop assistant, Jayne Simpkins, 56, from Corsham in Wiltshire was the first to spot the plucky robin swooping into the shop.

'I couldn't believe it when he started visiting the shop,' said Jayne. 'We have had a few robins flying through the shop over the years and we like to think Rory could be part of the same family.

'It's lovely to see him hopping inside. He flies around to his heart's content, perches in the furniture and will often be sitting in the corner whistling to himself.'

Staff believe the reason he likes visiting the premises is because it used to be a barn.

'Customers think he is a toy until he starts flying around the room. Children in particular are overjoyed to see him frolicking around.

'They are so happy to see a robin at this time of year, it puts a smile on everyone's faces.'

The shop building was previously a barn, which staff believe is the reason for the robin feeling so at home there.

And he is not the only animal to pop in.

'Last year a hedgehog gave birth to a litter under the shop counter,' said Jayne. 'We did move her on eventually but she insisted on coming back. It must be the warm friendly atmosphere.'
