THE Israeli Army is using Facebook to catch women who lie about their religious background to avoid serving in the Army.Military service is compulsory for Israelis over the age of 18, but Jewish women who sign a declaration saying they maintain a religious lifestyle, eat only kosher food and do not travel on Jewish Sabbath are exempt.

Investigations already identified 1000 draft-dodgers via the social networking site, the Jerusalem Post reported.

One woman who claimed to be observant posted a photo of herself on Facebook eating at a non-kosher restaurant, while several others accepted invitations investigators send out to them for parties on Friday night - during Sabbath.

There were also reports of women who claimed to be religious posting photos of themselves in immodest clothing.

The Facebook draft-dodgers were revealed by a senior army official who addressed a parliamentary committee Monday.

Brigadier-General Amir Rogovsky said 35 per cent of Jewish women signed a declaration to say that they were religiously observant in order to avoid joining the Army. The Army estimates that thousands of those women are, in fact, secular.

The military had six investigation offices that track down women who lie about their religious background, he said.​

Doesn't surprise me considering the way of life they have over there..... not everybody is cut out to serve in the military, let alone wants to, and any loophole or method to avoid the draft will almost always be taken/abused.

Tens of thousands of Israeli draft dodgers are living serene lives in NYC's Metro area. Why serve in that military if the USA opens its doors to you while denying the same to others from Latin America?

It isn't BS when the very survival of your country, Israel in this case, is at stake.

Blackwater? No way, the wages of Blackwater operatives are more than what a non-com Israeli soldier earns. Plus there is no way the Israeli gov will let foreign operatives use their (Israeli) tanks and other vehicles. How many Blackwater people have Pro-Palastine views, and can those be trusted to do the job while maintaining a neutral political view? Nope.

As for those draft dodgers living serene lives in NYC. All I can say is that they should never return to Israel, and if they do, they should be arrested. Their punishment would be the most menial work in the IDF with the majority of assignments inside the so called 'occupied territories'. Everything from collecting garbage, rubble removal, even to collection of human remains after bomb blasts. Why should they live high of the hog while their brothers, sisters and so forth put their lives at risk everyday so their beloved country can still exist?
