Any woman that is ordained a priest is not considered Catholic and is not recognized by the Vatican.

Women would make better Priests but God hasn't caught up with the modern times until that happens a woman in the Catholic church just has to accept that they have to live in the shadows.

The principle of apartheid - separate but equal
The principle of the roles of the sexes in the Church- separate but complementary

Honestly, not being religious, and only being in churches for weddings
and funerals, I didn't realize this was even an issue.

The last funeral I was at (it was in a funeral home & not a church), the
person (preacher/speaker/whatever....) leading this was a woman, &
nobody batted an eye. The Family is religious, and the kids all went to
separate schools, and they would have chosen her for this role.

It didn't even dawn on me that this might have been out of the ordinary
until reading this Thread this morning.

These smorgasbord "Catholic" women should try to find another club.

Precisely! The church is a club of men. I could never understand why women would want to belong to such a paternalistic (male chauvinist pig) organization.

Hence my references in the past to the Rotary Club. To me, the Catholic Church is every bit as relevant to my life as the Rotary Club, except that I'm a Past President of a Rotary Club, so it's technically more relevant.

I see the Catholic Church (and any other organized Church) as equivalent to a club to which I don't belong; what their top officials say and do has nothing to do with me.

Perhaps it is because I live in such a small town, but there are as many active women in Rotary as there are men.

A catholic woman, ordained in an Anglican church and now facing
excommunication. Therefore she is not recognized as a priest in
the eyes of the church. This is a nothing story, except to outline
the fact that men and women are not equal in the eyes of the church.
Discrimination is alive and well because someone decreed over a
thousand years ago that it was alright to discriminate against one
sex. I for one don't see why a woman in the twenty first century
would give a church like this the time of day.
The Catholic church spends its time honoring the mother of Christ
but all other women are inferior and do not measure up. Only the
male population is eligible to be priest, and we know where that
has led. Women would be just as good as men in the profession
so what is the big deal here. At least the reader should understand
this woman was not ordained in the Catholic Church, as it is not
recognized and won't be, and for wanting her rights within the Church
the men will likely kick her out. That should be the story, one of the
wilful discrimination, of someone in our society, where churches are
exempt from the recriminations of Canadian law.

It is not God who discriminated, it is the men of a stone church that God never asked for!

At this time, no, they are not recognized, but your comment that women "have" to live in the shadows is complete BS. Mother Theresa is a prime example of a Catholic woman who did NOT live in the shadows.

I'd dare anyone to go sit down with the CWL in my hometown and tell me they 'live in the shadows'. I pity the priest who has to answer to them.
