Chile reduces number of people thought to be killed

This is good news
Chile has revised the number of people thought to have died in the Feb. 27 earthquake down to 279, backing away from earlier estimates that put the death toll at 802. The government said Thursday that it has been difficult to determine how many people were killed in the earthquake because of problems with the communication system and confusion surrounding missing people.
It helps to have a building code.

Chile's quake was about 800 times as strong as the one in Haiti but the death toll is a fraction of that in Haiti.
