there is a big problem going on right now thats involving haitin and helping them with money via text messages. the problem is that hiati is not getting the money right away. they have to wait for the cellphone companies to send the bill to its costumers on the monthly basis. so it takes up to 30 days for haiti to receive those bills. what do you think about this?

The idea is to get aid, water and food to the people, not to give them money. Money won't do them any good right now anyway.

Canadian cell providers waived any fees on donations like texting REDCROSS to 303333. The relief agency is advised right away of the amounts pledged. If it takes a few weeks for the actual cash to arrive it is not a "BIG, BIG problem" as claimed in the title of this thread. As every aid agency has pointed out, tens of thousands of Haitians will rely on foreign aid like these donations for months (probably years) for bare essentials like food, water and medical care. Whether your $5 buys someone food or water today or next month when Haiti is gone from the headlines and donations are no longer coming ing, you're still saving their life.
