The convicted kiler of a six year old boy has been freed on parole after serving 16 years in jail

The State Parole Authority of NSW granted Austin Allan Hughes parole earlier this month after the horrific murder of an innocent child back in 1993.

The parole board noted that Huges had served two years over his minimum sentence, had shown remorse and would be supported by family upon his release.

His mother and Hughes were both jailed for 21 years which was then reduced on appeal to 19 years with a non-parole period of 14 years.

At one point, poor little John Ashfield had a telephone book placed on his head before being beaten with a hammer.

He had more than 100 bruises to his body in an incredibly vicious attack that left him suffering from retinal haemorrage and other such injuries

Is it right to release this man?
