Canadian Prime Minister Steven Harper's government publicly supported Israel's brutal assault on Gaza and voted alone at the UN Human Rights Committee in defense of Israel's actions three weeks ago. Now Canada has taken over Israeli diplomacy. Literally.
In solidarity with Gaza, Venezuela expelled Israel's ambassador at the start of the bombardment and then broke off all diplomatic relations two weeks later. Israel need not worry since Ottawa plans to help out. On 29 January, The Jerusalem Post reported that "Israel's interests in Caracas will now be represented by the Canadian Embassy." This means Canada is officially Israel, at least in Venezuela.

We give enough in aid already and have a tree trade deal to make arming Israel cheaper What do we get in return for arms? Palestinian olives or yummy dates or software like PROMIS that let MOSSAD have access to all CSIS and RCMP files on YOU?

If there is going to be an Israel it might be best to let outside troops and agencies run it.

Israel is a western democratic nation. Israel is our ally. That Israel asked us to represent their interests in Venezuela is not particularly unusual.............

Gaza is run by the Islamo-fascist genocidal organization Hamas.......Israel unilaterally pulled out of Gaza in 2005, and used violence in that withdrawal to force Israeli settlers out.....it was clearly understood by all sides that this was an experiment that, if successful, would lead to the same type of withdrawal in the West Bank, leaving the Palestinians a de facto state........but Hamas considers all of Israel to be the property of the Arabs, Hamas refuses to acknowledge Israel's right to exist, Hamas has destroyed any chance of peace in the ME practically single-handedly..........by using Gaza as a launch pad for attacks on Israel.

I think it is only the right thing for us to do, helping out our allies in a nation ruled by a loony.
