Right...they never secretly funded Bin Laden. When the US was funding the Afghan Mujadeen during the Soviet-Afghan War Bin Laden was kept from CIA operatives because of his open hostility towards the US. The Afghans didn't want this wealthy Saudi screwing things up. Bin Laden has plenty of money.

The US DID turn it's back on Afghanistan after the Soviets left and what happened happened. The whole West turned a blind eye to it and the Taliban rose to power.

One of the BIGGEST falsehoods that continuously comes up in these discussions. The Taliban did not fight the Soviets. The Taliban did not emerge on the scene until AFTER the Soviets left Afghanistan. The Taliban was created from young boys fleeing into Pakistan and training at islamic fundamentalist maddras. The bulk of the Taliban were too young to fight the Soviets and emerged as a young fighting force in the ensuing Afghan Civil War.

Did we fund Aghan Mujahdeen during the war? You bet
