O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee!!!!!

Bloody Turdoh changed the whole meaning of the day. Dominion Day actually had some historic significance so obviously it had to be changed to a meaningless Canada Day. Happy Dominion Day, from sea to sea to sea.

In days of yore, from Britain's shore
Wolfe, the dauntless hero, came
And planted firm Britania's flag
On Canada's fair domain.
There may it wave, our boast and pride
And join in love together
The thistle, shamrock, rose entwine
The maple leaf forever.

Chorus
The maple leaf, our emblem dear
The maple leaf forever
God save our King and heaven bless
The maple leaf forever.

At Queenston Heights and Lundy's Lane
Our brave fathers side by side
For freedom, homes and loved ones dear
Firmly stood and nobly died
And those dear rights which they maintained
We swear to yield them never
Our watchword ever more shall be
The maple leaf forever.

Our fair Dominion now extends
From Cape Race to Nootka Sound
May peace forever be our lot
And plenteous store abound.
And may those ties of love be ours
Which discord cannot sever
And flourish green o'er freedom's home
The maple leaf forever.

Happy birthday Ca-na-da

Here's why I love Canada:

"Canadians oppose Iraq war, poll finds"

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servl...onal/Politics/

"Canadians are solidly opposed to the war in Iraq and most Americans now believe that our decision not to join that prolonged and unpopular conflict was a good one, a new poll suggests ... Opposition to the war is huge in Canada, where 82 per cent of respondents said the invasion was the wrong decision."

GOD BLESS CANADA!!!

Does this song bring back any memories? It was the official Centennial song (1967).

Bobby Jimby and his clairinet? I remember being one of those kids singing the song and skipping along behind the pied piper! Ca-na-da - One little two little three Canadians...

How uncool for an eleven-year-old....

Pretty amazing numbers:

Canadians were asked:
Which politician do you admire most?
Barack Obama: 26%
Stephen Harper: 21%
Hillary Clinton: 16%
Jack Layton: 9%
Gilles Duceppe: 6%
Stéphane Dion: 5%
John McCain: 3%

Thanks Kreskin! Had such a wonderful day - spent most of it down at the inner harbour in Victoria buying jewellery from the vendors and watching the street performers then finished up at a great restaraunt on Wharf street - called Sauce - amazing food in the company of family I don't get to see enough, and watching the patriotic revellers - so many people decked out in flags and other red and white apparell - very festive!
Ended the day by spending 2 hours in a parkig lot trying to break into my cousin's car with her keys locked inside - but we had a ever ending stream of people stopping by to help and eventually did get the keys out ... all in all seems like alot to celebrate today...I'm having a great holiday! Hope everyone else is too.

I'm sure it was uncool. I still have good memories of that period (though was only 6 years old).

Yesterday we drove out to Tofino thinking it would be a little cooler, and strolling Long Beach would be a nice way to spend a day. It was cooler alright, it was freakin freezing. I lasted about 15 minutes before going back to the car.

You're welcome!

Most folks throughout the world know the Fourth of July as being a big Yank holiday. But few Yanks know of Canada Day. That's why I made it a point to post a big sign about the Day on our work site's bulletin board!!
