BANGKOK, Thailand (Cime Library) — New details are emerging about suspected pedophile Christopher Paul Neil, 32. Police now claim Neil was a regular poster to an online forum for teachers and that he posted more than 300 messages under the pseudonym "Peter Jackson."
The owner of the Internet blog Raincoaster.com trudged through most of the posts yesterday and highlighted two in particular. In the first one cited on the website, Jackson allegedly discussed how to delay or skirt police background checks needed for some teaching jobs.
"Police checks are NOT needed to get a visa. Public schools will want one, but you should be able to stall them. Often they want teachers SO quickly that they will 'wait' for some things. I never gave a police check for my last public school job. I was in Vietnam at the time, and getting one wasn't easy. I delayed and never heard about it again."
In another post, he outlined how to hide things from inspectors:
"[I've] never heard of porn [being] a problem in Korea. On my first trip there in 2000, I remember reading the customs declaration form while on the plane. I was SO nervous for the remaining hours on the plane because I happened to have a couple Penthouse magazines in my bag. I ended up tossing them in the bin at the airport washroom, only to find out that no one would have found them anyway. In terms of computers, if you're worried about any content, there are several ways to encrypt your drive. A friend has highly recommended Truecrypt, which you can download. If you want to get rid of old files so no one will see, then simply deleting them will not work. You'll have to get a program like Jetico's BC Wipe...."
In other postings, Jackson discusses wearing condoms during oral sex to protect against HIV, and in yet another, he describes rebuffing a man who hit on him in a sauna. "The guy was lucky," he wrote. "I am not violent."
According to Captain Hope Carr, a public affairs officer for Canada's military, Christopher Paul Neil worked from 1998 to 2000 as a chaplain and counselor for children and young adults at a cadet training center in Nova Scotia. Carr said that, to his knowledge, there were no complaints about Christopher Neil at that time.
The star.com reportedChristopher Neil was a history student at the Seminary of Christ the King in Mission, B.C. in the 1990s, but it was recommended he not go on to the priesthood, the school's rector says, because he lacked the necessary personal qualifications.
"'I'm not saying anything further,' said Rev. Nicholas Ruh. 'It's too delicate.'"
The global hunt for Christopher Neil began on October 8 when Interpol issued an appeal for help identifying a suspect seen in some 200 photos that had discovered on the Internet of a man abusing Vietnamese and Cambodian boys. The man's face had been disguised in the pictures with a digitalized swirl technique, but German investigators were able to unscramble the images, which led to hundreds of tips identifying Christopher Neil as the suspect.
When Christopher Neil fled South Korea last week, cameras at Bangkok's International Airport caught him on camera at the immigration counter. That photo, since released by Interpol, shows Neil with a cleanly shaved head and eyeglasses and dressed in a white button-down shirt.
Yesterday, Mick Moran, the Interpol case officer leading the global hunt for Neil, told Bangkokpost.com that Christopher Neil should surrender "to have the matter sorted out in a reasonable and adult manner."
'"He is now internationally known," Mora said. "Really, there is no place for him to hide. We are confident that we can track him down. Interpol's network is very large. I have no doubt that we will find him, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but definitely we will find him."
