TWO Muslim students have been expelled from an Islamic school in Melbourne for urinating and spitting on a Bible and setting it on fire.
The explosive incident has forced the East Preston Islamic College to call in a senior imam to tell its 650 Muslim students that the Bible and Christianity must be respected.
Anxious teachers at the school have also petitioned principal Shaheem Doutie, expressing "grave concern" about an "inculcation of hatred and radical attitudes towards non-Muslims" at the school, including towards non-Muslim teachers.
The Bible desecration took place last week at a school camp held near Bacchus Marsh, about 50km west of Melbourne, attended by 33 teenage Muslim boys ranging in age from Year7 to Year 10.
A school report of the incident, obtained by The Australian, says it happened late at night and involved three students and another two watching.
"The main perpetrator (a Year 7 student) urinated on the Holy Bible, tore some pages from the Holy Book and burnt them then finally spat on the Holy Book," the report says.
The second boy, from Year 9, "tore pages from the Holy Book and burnt them", while a third student, from Year 7, "tore pages from the Holy Bible and then he rolled it up like a cigarette and pretended to smoke it".
The boys come from a variety of ethnic Muslim backgrounds -- one is believed to be an Albanian/Malaysian, another Lebanese and another Indonesian.

My, aren't they little wonders. Australia has, unlike many western countries, taken a hard line with its large Muslim community. Various governmental officials up to Howard himself have made it clear: you don't like it here and you don't want to abide by western principles, you can shove off.
Multiculturalism is increasingly under the gun and it should be. We deserve answers - and we will have them - from the chief architects and spokesmen of the movement. If it can be found that the multicults have played fast and loose with our future, they can expect a ferocious backlash.

Hmmm. A question: why would Muslims piss on the Bible when the Koran specifically calls it the Inspired Word of God and when Islam regards both books as equally sacred?

See Koran, Sura 6, Line 155 {Jones translation}.

Poorly educated Muslims, obviously. I'm not sure what terms like "year 7" and "year 10" mean in the Australian educational system, but I'd guess it means boys in the 13 to 16 year old age group. Males that age are not well known for rational behaviour, suffering as they are from that first near-toxic rush of testosterone at adolescence. That's perhaps a reason for their idiotic behaviour, but not an excuse. There's no excuse. The Koran quite clearly requires its followers to respect what it calls "The People of the Book, " that is, people with a revealed religion and a written scripture, which in practical terms means Jews and Christians.

A lot of them seem to have lost sight of that lately.

Personally, as an atheist I don't see any real difference between urinating on, spitting on, and setting fire to a Bible, and doing the same to a dictionary. It's just one more dumb and pointless thing to do that'll offend a lot of people. Young males are famous for stuff like that. A bunch of 40-year old Imams doing it would be quite a different matter.

So, is he making this story up or not? Otherwise, its not relevant.

You are assuming that all Muslims know every single line of the koran and follow it to a tee. Does every single Christian know every single line of the bible and follow it precisely?

High schoolers attending an Islamic school and they do not know something as basic as the idea that the Koran expressly validates the Bible as Holy Scripture? Boy, oh, boy -- that sure is a stretch.

If this story is true what did the school do to those profaning kids? Were they suspended? Expelled? Whipped?

How about a follow up just to insure that the initial story is correct?

When is the last time you've been around high schoolers? You think they're all rationale, loving, rocket-scientists?

How about a follow up just to insure that the initial story is correct?
The Australian is a respected newspaper.

Rupert Murdoch owns the Times of London. I guess we should just assume everything in the Times is a lie too, eh?

I think its incumbent upon the doubters to conjure up contradictory evidence.

Perhaps it didn't happen. But doubting this couldn't happen because, well, they're Muslim high-school students, and its being reported in a respected newspaper owned by Richard Murdoch isn't particularly persuasive.

Exactly. Let's be honest, males at that age are anything but bright, thinking as they do with their "other" brain most of the time.

But what evidence has been presented to prove the article's claims?

Have you seen any photos? Copies of police complaints? Transcripts of news conferences? Witness reports?

Muslims are alleged to be cruel towards those who commit profanations, so why don't we have any proof of the consequences here?

If you want to believe the story, go ahead and do so. But most likely it is just another fabricated story planted in the news to demonize Muslims.
