The Canadian Forces policies are putting them in deep trouble as are the members. [Story here

No loaded weapons?

Don't shoot until fired upon?

Are our leaders insane?

Good Lord, on an armoured truck I carry a loaded sidearm, and have a loaded shotgun available in the truck. I can shoot anyone that threatens me and has the means to cause me death or greivous bodily harm.

I don't need to wait for them to shoot first.

And that's on the streets of my home province.

These guys are playing by these rules in Kandahar against the lunatic Taliban and Osama's boys?

Unbelievable!

This is U.N policy. Do not shoot until shot at.

Because this is combat this has to be changed. This is not a U.N mission where most of the combatants are under a cease-fire obligation.

These people in Afghanistan want to kill as many soldiers as they can so they will pull out and then the government will collapse.

As a soldier, and having 1/3 of my unit in Afghanistan, I'm kind of nerverous.

Is it too late for you to rescind your application?

I can't believe anyone would be sent on any mission without protection.

Nope I've been sworn in and everything.

And I don't want to leave my friends, I have been in a month ad have already made friends for life.

So, if I go to Afghanistan I'll just do what i have to do. I am a good shot, if I now thatsomeone is a suicide bomber I will just pick him off. Hopefully.

This has been the Policy of the Miltary for the past twenty years, rules of Engagement for the UN. However, the Missions that the Military have been tasked with in the past five years have not been Peace Keeping in nature. It is asinine to not up date the rules of Engagement. I do know that there is an extreame shortage of bullets.

There should be a U.N mandate for soldiers.

And a combat mandate for soldiers and rules of engagement. Because Afghanistan is not a U.N peacekeeping mission. Canada isat war with the Taliban. That is what a combat mission is, war.

Oh no - a good shot?

Well the U.N. don't have weaponry to dispense - so they are relying on the country of the military to supply what equipment they have.

The U.N. after all is promoting peace in our world.

Yet they keep asking for military intervention.
