OK, just wanted to thank you Canadians for all the help in Affyville. I see you are still behind us with your money at least.

Would anyone care to comment on this article? I guess it's a lie, again. Eh? ****Money Talks****

November 15, 2005

HALIFAX (CP) - The Canadian army is spending $36 million to improve the armour plating on its relatively thin-skinned reconnaissance vehicles and trucks destined for duty in war-torn Afghanistan.

A team of seven specialists spent several weeks adding bolt-on armour to dozens of half-tonne trucks, Bison troop carriers, Coyote reconnaissance vehicles and Light Armoured Vehicles, otherwise known as LAV3s.

The plating is meant to protect soldiers from rocket-propelled grenades and roadside bombs favoured by insurgents around the former Taliban stronghold of Kandahar.

The upgrade comes as Canada ramps up its commitment to the region. By February, as many as 1,500 Canadian troops will be on the ground, helping coalition forces rebuild the area. "Most of the vehicles there (now) have add-on armour," said Maj. James Atkins, who is in charge of equipment for armoured vehicles.

"Part of the (force) expansion includes more vehicles. So as much as possible we're trying to up-armour those vehicles. As a rule of thumb, we'd like to up-armour all of them, but there is a cost factor here."

Adding the extra plating costs about $100,000 per vehicle.

(NOT helping YOU........(silly, arrogant and naive )......... helping the AFGANS...get their life on track again. .....and helping to stabilize the country after you tore the sh*t out of it. Peacekeeping missions...

And we had every right to - in search of bin Laden. But the way you think is so hilarious - you are doing cognitive dissonance. I see it plain and clear. You can't pull that on me.

remember the word PEACE??? Have you NO respect for the Afgans that you invaded too??? "Affyville"........ is that the new pet name you gave them???

You <Canada> don' t need ALL that extra armour if you are peaceful, now do you? As I said - money talks. Affyville is an inside joke. Yes, it is a sort of pet name.

What is this "high" ... kick ...or ??? that you and your ilk get out of military equipment, military action.......aka WAR??? Is it some testosterone thing with you??? Sounds like a serious addiction and people are getting killed.

Testosterone? Addiction? ILK? You so funny - quit. You are making me laugh so hard I am coughing. You are better than TV.

If they wanted Bin Laden caught he would be caught by now. With all their technology they should of found him long ago, unless they are incompetent but in that case they should of sent 100,000 troops to Afhhanistan to flush him out.

Who knows he (OBL) could be dead but it has been kept quiet as "W" needs his boogeyman. I dunno but it is a good possibility.

But he could be alive and well all this time in Pakistan, who are supposed friends of America.

But as long as there is a sense of mystery around him, "W" will milk it dry.

abso-positively!!..... and the mutually parasitic organism continues to fester. The sense of mystery helps OBL followers too. Humanity is more inclined to follow a myth....with grows bigger with time... than reality.

could be. The thing is that the US has NO friends.(not in reality) It has business partners, it has puppet gov't that do it's bidding out of necessity, and it has "contracts". Yesterdays friend is todays enemy as far as the US is concerned.

Oh, I love this!

There are worse things than war, OB. I suggest that living without hope in a society run by either Saddam Hussein or the Taliban would be one of them.

Freedom is always paid for with blood, and it is not cheap.

If she had even an inkling as to what the Taliban was like, I'm sure she would feel differently.

Afganistan is no Iraq. The invasion there was 100% justified in light of the Taliban's overt support for Al Queda. I don't see how you can argue that they'd be better off under the Taliban.

This is another lefty stand that makes me nuts. Read between the lines, and you get "Gee, you know, these uncivilized WOGS really aren't fit for the benefits of freedom"

If you want to talk about the suitability of democracy in these nations, you should pay some attention to the fact that a HIGHER PERCENTAGE of the people vote in Afghanistan and in Iraq than do in North America. Despite the threat of bombs and gunfire at the polls. Despite the fact that democracy was "forced" on them.

That would seem to indicate that they are much more deserving, and more suited to democracy than Canadians or Americans.

Think about that.
