Ayman al-Zawahiri, alleged to be number two in Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida network, has named Britain's Queen Elizabeth II as one of the severest enemies of Islam in a video seen by British newspaper The Sunday Times.

The British weekly newspaper said it had obtained the full 27-minute al-Qaida tape that claimed responsibility for the London 7 July bombings that killed 56 people, the four bombers included.

The Sunday Times said MI5, Britain's internal security service, had passed the warning to Elizabeth's protection team.

Parts of the video were broadcast in September on Aljazeera.

If they know what is good for them, they will leave her alone.

India is part of the Commonwealth, unless something has happened since I looked into it last.

I don't think they would like it one bit.

Regardless though, if they go after the Queen, they are inviting trouble like they have never seen before.

RE: Al-Qaida: UK queen is

sorry just to add to that, it makes you laugh this commonwealth business, did you know the channel Islands of sark, Jersey, Gurnsey and Alderney have only pledged allegence to only the king or queen and not the uk government since the time of Gullliem "Le Bastrd" Hocke (william the conq.)?.

novel idea eh?........but seriously, she's not head of state or queen of india any more, they are in the commonwealth because they choose to, nothing to do with the queen, on the above statement about the queen's cousin, forgive me if I ever feel sick at the stupid hypocritical idea of a "war on terror" backed by the only country in the world to be found guilty of international terrorism.....land of the idea stealers

bravo Hockey!! ......

( the US has a serious case of Royal envy so one cannot expect much rationality from them about this or about much else at the moment.)

welcome to the forum. and the more international our membership becomes ......the better we can learn from each other..

"Long Live the Queen".........as some traditions should continue to be respected for what they are........traditions ...and symbolism.

11th of November 1975 & How the Crown saved the day
Today is the 30th anniversary of the sacking of the worst government in Australian history, the day the Crown stepped in to resolve a deadlock and hand power back to the people so that a new Parliament could be elected.

In 1972, after 21 years out of government, the Australian Labor Party was elected to govern. Under the new Prime Minister, Mr Gough Whitlam, we had a government that spent money out of control. By 1975 the conservative opposition under Malcolm Fraser made the decision to block supply of money bills in the Upper House. The Government would thus run out of money by late November 1975.

In the Westminster System, if a Prime Minister cannot guarantee supply, he/she must resign or call an election so that the deadlock can be broken.

However, Mr Whitlam took the decision not to back down and went to "loan sharks" to keep himself in government whilst the country went to ruin! The opposition in turn refused to back down and allow the money bills through the Upper House. Mr Whitlam went on TV to say that the Governor-General would ALWAYS act on his advice ( a clear attempt at intimidating the Queen's man)

Then on the 11th of November 1975, the Governor-General Sir John Kerr asked his Prime Minister if he was prepared to hold a double disollution election - to which he was told "no". Sir John then dismissed Prime Minister Whitlam and called upon Mr Fraser to form a caretaker government on the condition that the money bills were passed, the Parliament dissolved and an election held for the 13th of December.

Mr Fraser won the biggest Landslide in Australian history. Sir John Kerr did the honourable thing, he handed the power back to the people.
