NEW YORK (Reuters) - President Bush's bold, uncompromising leadership and his clear-cut election victory made him Time magazine's "Person of the Year" for 2004, its managing editor said on Sunday.

Time chose Bush "for sticking to his guns (literally and figuratively), for reshaping the rules of politics to fit his 10-gallon-hat leadership style and for persuading a majority of voters this time around that he deserved to be in the White House for another four years," Jim Kelly wrote in the magazine.

Bush was also Time's choice to appear on the cover in 2000 after winning the presidential election despite losing the popular vote.

Bush was elected in "America The Free" .... but today America is under seige.

This clown is the Man of The Year!
He deserves it.
He wears it well.

Bush gave Tenet (that CIA guy) the Medal Of Freedom the other day. Imagine that? The guy who said it was gonna be a slam-dunk!
And, I think that with this award to Tenet, there must be a pay-off of some sort. I wonder what the fringe benefits are to Tenat and his family in the future? I'm gonna check that out.

I think that when Americans see a bunch of Mullah's elected in Iraq ... that is when Rumsfeld will leave. It's part of the plan. He is gonna take the hit for everything.

I see now, after the election, CNN is beginning to describe the insurrgency as "civil war".

Hitler was the Man of the Year in the 1930's. Is there a coincidence?

Joseph Stalin?
Richard Nixon?

Time picks their person of the year based upon the individual who's personal actions created the most newsworthy events of the year, be they bad, good or indifferent.

Knowing how it's done, you will hopefully cease in your efforts to make yourself look even more ridiculous.

RE: Time Names President

We could compare him to Ayotollah Khomeini, I guess. Lunatic leaders who think they talk to one deity or another aren't that uncommon, but those who can make a bad situation worse have a special talent.

Then how come Bin Laden did not make the person of the year in 2001. He made more news then than anyone else. Not that I want him to be, but if you pick one terrorist you should pick the other.

The Man Of The Year cover should have gone with the entire Boston Red Sox team. That was the most important event of the decade for me[them finally winning the World Series!]

RE: Time Names President

Oh no, not a Red Sox fan. I was happy to see them finally break the Bambino Curse, but then I went to the bar with one of their fans...3 hours I had to listen to him yapping about the Red Sox winning.
