The HIV virus also has a habit of changing very rapidly. That doesn't mean this isn't a worthwhile step though. Tailor-made vaccines can be mass-produced when there is a need to and even a moving target can be locked on to. This is a truly major event.

That is a really forward-looking article, Jeremy.

Though we'd have to see it in use by more than 18 people to know whether or not we can beat the HIV virus and the AIDS illness.

It's definately something we should look into a bit more and it would be worthwhile for Canada and Canadians to get involved, especially if similar vaccines can be researched for hepatitis C & cancer.

Except to get US aid in some parts of Africa they have to promote abstinence instead. That's a non-starter. There's also a huge cultural hang-up about condom use in many places, including some segments of western society.

I think the best way to prevent HIV is through education. There are a lot of people who still think that HIV/AIDS is transmittable when an infected person is merely standing next to you.
