Canadian athletes, however, were performing well and positioning themselves to advance.

The Canadian men's baseball team beat the Netherlands 7-0 and will play Greece on Wednesday.

The Canadian women's softball were celebrating a 1-0 win over Japan - the Number Two ranked team. The Canadians are getting ready to take on the U.S. on Wednesday.

And men were doing well in the pool.

In the men's 200 Breaststroke, Mike Brown, finished sixth in the seminfinals and will advance.

As well, the men's team finished fifth in the finals of the 4x200 Freestyle Relay. And, while the team was disappointed with the showing, they could take some consolation in posting a Canadian record of 7:13:33.

But in judo, Canada's Marie Helene Chisholm was beaten in the bronze-medal match by Slovenian Urska Zolnir on points Tuesday. Chisolm fell just short of becoming the first Canadian women to medal in judo.

Meanwhile, the entire Canadian delegation was still celebrating their first medal win Monday -- a bronze in women's diving by Emilie Heymans and Blythe Hartley.

Hartley says she still hasn't come down from winning.

"We were just full of emotion last night," she told CTV's Canada AM.

Right now, Team U.S.A. has taken the lead in the overall medal standings with 18 medals (six gold, six silver and six bronze).

The rest of the Top Five standings are as follows:

China - 17 (10 gold, 5 silver, 2 bronze)
Australia - 14 (6-3-5)
Japan - 9 (6-2-1)
Ukraine - 5 (3-1-1)
