Just after a member of the Islamist religion attacked the Mother of Parliaments.

This is going to be interesting. Once they actually put it in place, (and I have no doubt it will be as long as the liberals are in power), will it be upheld in the courts? And, when the "committee" comes through with their recommendations, will "Islamophobia" be defined? Will "anti-Semitism" be included; anti Christian? No, I suspect not. Anti-Semitism is a far bigger issue than islamophobia (just check out the threads here) but you'll never here it from the mouths of these politicians. Do they even realize what this is going to end up becoming? We need to fight this before it becomes law because that is the intent of this motion and that's having an anti-blasphemy law in Canada. You can ridicule me all you want but mark my words - I'll have the last laugh when it finally comes to fruition.

Just askin'

oops, it seems I accidentally erased my first sentence (how the heck did that happen?) I needed to preface my comments by "This is the first step to this motion eventually becoming a law."

The House of Commons has passed M-103, a non-binding motion condemning Islamophobia and religious discrimination.

House of Commons passes anti-Islamophobia motion - Politics - CBC News

LOL! The Islamophobic reactionary ****brains are going to be triggered by this one!
We already have laws against religious discrimination. This motion is intended to give extra special protection to Muslims and only Muslims otherwise the duplicitous little bitch wouldn't have specifically mentioned Islamophobia.
Even the CBC calls it an anti-Islamophobia motion, not a religious discrimination motion.

M-103 to protect Islam and protect against religious discrimination, and if I remember right, Parlament has also voted a motion to protect Jews discrimination (anti-semite), whoua!, where is our Canadian Government heading?

I guess there should be a Law voted to protect English, French, Polish, Italian, Russian people, others, otherwise, our government is doing systemic discrimination, hope our Politicians will be enlightened to common sense!

What is islamophobia? Anyone want to hazard a guess? How can any "committee" investigate something which has no description or hasn't been defined?

Anyone?

I got to pass a motion in Parliament about ten years ago. We were doing the tourist thing and I really needed to go to the washroom.

I would also like to point out that my contribution was the most important thing that happened in Parliament that day.

CAUGHT ON VIDEO: Mississauga politicians confront angry protesters who hijack ‘Building Bridges’ event

Mississauga-Streetsville MPP Bob Delaney and other politicians confronted a group of protesters at a “Building Bridges” event in Erin Mills on Sunday, April 9 after the group accused them of being “fools” and spreading lies.

The event at Erin Meadows Community Centre was put on by The Voice of Canadians Forum, a self proclaimed “Ontario-based community discussion forum,” and included a panel discussion entitled “Building Bridges to Strengthen All Communities.”

Politicians and faith leaders took part, including Liberal MP Iqra Khalid (Mississauga-Erin Mills) and Liberal MPPs Bob Delaney (Mississauga-Streetsville) and Nathalie Des Rosiers (Ottawa-Vanier).

Khalid was in the middle of her speech discussing the contentious Motion 103 when she was interrupted by one woman, and then several.

Khalid, who introduced Motion 103, which seeks to combat Islamophobia in Canada, told the crowd the motion “calls upon the government to condemn all forms of systemic racism and religious discrimination including Islamophobia. And then it also … calls on the government to begin a study, to collect evidence, to understand what our race and discrimination problem is here in Canada.”

But, a woman later shouted, “Stop with all your lies here. You’ve insulted me as a Canadian, as a soldier’s daughter who fought and other soldiers at Vimy Ridge. We will not be quelled. This isn’t about racism. This isn’t about you. This is about you trying to silence Canadians and telling us what to think and what to feel.”

Delaney then confronts and attempts to interrupt the protester, arguing his grandfather fought at Vimy Ridge.

“Don’t you dare desecrate that battle with your garbage here,” he said.

The protesters continued to shout for several minutes, one holding a sign saying “Stop Motion 103: I will not be quelled,” and were then either escorted out or left on their own volition.

The motion has been criticized as an attack on freedom of expression and has garnered accusations that Canada is adopting Islamic sharia law.

Great. Maybe they can study why it's acceptable for Muslims to discriminate against disabled people. Maybe it can explain why our govt(s) are terrified of enforcing OUR values on Muslims while bending over backwards to accommodate their values and forcing them on the rest of us.
Maybe the study can also explain why it's a bad thing when reported hate crimes against Muslims doubled over a three year period while hate crimes against White people increasing 2.5x over the same period, almost commensurate with the increase in the Muslims population here, is no big deal.

But here's one thing I know the study will miss entirely. A fairly sizable minority of hate crimes against Muslims are committed by other people from the Middle East who aren't Muslim. They came here to get away from that bullsh*t and now it's growing here too.
I've got a few friends from that region who are so virulently anti-Muslim they make the anti-Muslims on this board look like apologists and sympathizers. Of course, with two of them being Zoroastrians from Iran their intense hatred is completely understandable.

For the time being anyway...apparently your refrigerator and television are listening to your conversations now. Orwell was a prophet, thought-crime is becoming a reality.
