The woman who managed Donald Trump's successful U.S. presidential campaign is coming to Alberta to tour oilsands and speak to business leaders just days before his inauguration.

Kellyanne Conway will visit Fort McMurray an oilsands tour, and then speak at a fundraising dinner in Calgary for the Alberta Prosperity Fund, a conservative advocacy group.

"Ms. Conway is a very influential member of U.S. president-elect Donald Trump's transition team and someone that I personally admire as a woman in politics," Heather Forsyth of the Alberta Prosperity Fund, said in a release.

"Her visit to Alberta at this time should send a strong signal to Canadians on the importance of this province to the United States," says the release, noting that Conway is president and CEO of the polling company inc./WomenTrend.

Trump's win earlier this month has renewed hope among some in the oilpatch that the controversial Keystone XL pipeline, rejected by the Obama administration, will be approved after all.

Trump has said he is in favour of the 1,900-kilometre pipeline, and invited TransCanada to reapply for approval as part of his platform.

Conway will be paid an undisclosed sum for her speech, however, the visit was initiated by people in her office, said Alberta Prosperity Fund spokesman Randy Kerr.

"They reached out to us. She really wants to come up here," he said.

Good, this woman is smart. Anybody that could sit and counter attack Trumps indisputable common sense drawbacks and appear as the winner has to be very very smart. She will see the benefits of dealing with a friend versus the Saudi Cartel.

Alberta is mostly a treeless desert. We can't export oil without military capabilities we can just be expropriated and subjectewd to American sponsered democrazy. We need to buy Russian aircraft and tanks, fuk urban renewal.

U.S. president-elect Donald Trump's campaign manager has cancelled her Calgary appearance just days before she was scheduled to speak at the Palliser Hotel.

Kellyanne Conway, who also planned to tour the oilsands area around Fort McMurray, Alta., was invited to Calgary by the Alberta Prosperity Fund, a conservative advocacy organization that has been vocal in its support of a united right-wing movement in Alberta.

The speech, scheduled for Jan. 12, was to be a fundraising dinner for the organization.

"I can tell you that Ms. Conway's office and our own have tried every option at our disposal to make this work and, unfortunately, a visit is just not possible at this time," said Barry McNamar, president and founder of the Alberta Prosperity Fund in a press release.

The group said the event sold out within days and that it "has not been rescheduled at this time."
Those with tickets will receive a full refund.

The cancellation comes a day after a grassroots group had begun organizing a protest in opposition to her arrival.

Peter Dormaar created the event, which was to be held outside the Palliser Hotel, where the dinner was scheduled. He said within a day, about 25 people had RSVP'd to attend.

Dormaar says he doesn't think Albertans should support Conway because of Trump's social politics.

CBC News has asked the Alberta Prosperity Fund for comment, but has not yet received a response.
